It?s Christmas Eve and Drosselmeyer?s famous toy shop has long provided the entertainment for the Stahlbaum?s Christmas party. This morning, Clara Marie and her mother visit the Shoppe to make their final selections. The young apprentice catches Clara Marie?s eye and together they view the magical creations that will be part of the Christmas Eve celebration. Drosselmeyer interrupts the tete-a-tete and the Stahlbaums depart the shop. Clara Marie is filled with expectations of magic and perhaps romance in the evening ahead. Mark Erickson?s, The Nutcracker, brings all the iconic dancing and charm of the originally crafted ballet set to Tchaikovsky?s elegant score with the romantic twist of a young woman?s first love.
